1. Barack Obama @BarackObama
Although Obama has not shared anything since I began following him, since President Trump's inauguration he has shared about the Obama Foundation. I think using Twitter is one of the best ways he can reach younger adults about his foundation, and the foundation is unique because it wants to hear the ideas of anyone who submits to it. Obama's Twitter conveys his sense of humor a little so far, and his reflection on his previous job as president. I think his account is authentic because the tweets are thoughtful and mostly professional tweets about Obama. Obama's account certainly relies on ethos since he was president; he has gained the trust and loyalty of his followers through his actions as a political leader.
2. Bernie Sanders @BernieSanders
His account mainly focuses on his issues as a senator. He does this through expressing his own ideas while also refuting those of others. I think he does a good job at showing his personality through this because he tends to bring up issues that are not always addressed by other politicians. On the Senate floor, on Facebook, and Twitter, Sanders holds other politicians to the promises they made on the campaign trail which they are not upholding which I believe shows his confidence. I believe his account is also authentic because I follow him and know what is shared on Twitter is consistent across platforms. Sanders use ethos since he is a well-known politician as well as pathos to evoke his audience with the feelings he feels about issues.
3. Amy Schumer @amyschumer
Amy really has not really shared much besides few tweets about a new show and movie. I think she is not really using Twitter a lot to express herself or her brand since she has only tweeted a coule of times since I followed her and the rest is just retweets about random things. Personally, I think it is authentic just because she shares little and not often which seems different than a fan account which might share more often and with more detailed tweets. The fan account seems more appealing, but the best appeals Amy uses is her ethos as a celebrity.
4. Trevor Noah @Trevornoah
Trevor Noah is a political satire comedian and he conveys this well through his Twitter account. He makes jokes about President Trump, and he talks about his book "Born a Crime" which was recently published. Through his Twitter he shows his audience how he is a comedian. I can tell his account is authentic because his jokes are delivered in a similar style as The Daily Show. Again, he uses appeals as a celebrity, and with his book through his personal experience growing up during apartheid in South Africa.
5. John Oliver @iamjohnoliver
John Oliver is another celebrity I chose to follow who has shared much, for the most part he has just retweeted posts from Last Week Tonight, the show he hosts. I think he does an okay job showing his brand because he has tweeted a few funny thoughts, but he also retweets issues from older episodes which President Trump has made relevant today. His Twitter does not say much about his personality. Also it seems so-so in authenticity since it feels like he is reluctant to tweet. He also uses ethos sincne he is a celebrity, and logos because his show provides factual evidence concerning topics.
6. Lin Manuel Miranda
Lin Manuel Miranda is the most active person I follow. He tweets about himself more so than what he is doing, but he also answers questions fans ask him. The way he uses Twitter shows his personality as caring and devoted to his fans. He does give updates about his work on Mary Poppins Returns and Moana. I think his account is authentic since he tweets a lot about his personal life more so than anyone else could possibly do. For example, he shared pictures of his dog in front of a green screen for people to photoshop. He uses ethos as a celebrity and pathos through the ways he interacts with fans.
7. Andrew Gillum @AndrewGillum
Andrew Gillum uses his account to promote himself as the Tallahassee Mayor. He shares a lot about what he is working on and his ideas for Tallahassee and American politics. I think he does a good job at branding himself because he is thought provoking when he speaks and he interacts with Twitter in a different way than the other politicians I follow. He generally shares exactly what he is doing for the community and retweets his office tweets as well as tweets concerning the city (he also favorited my tweet about rhetorically analyzing political cartoons) which is effective since it is a local government account. He uses ethos as the mayor.
8. Anna Kendrick @AnnaKendrick47
Anna Kendrick does not tweet a lot either but when she does it seems to be the same things a young adult or teen might tweet. She does not necessarily brand anything, but she does show her personality by tweeting the way she does. She tweets themes about friends mostly and I think it makes her relateable in a way. However, I do not believe her account to be truly authentic because she does not share very often. Since she is also a celebrity, she uses ethos.
9. Chris Pratt @PrattPrattPratt
Another celebrity I chose to follow who does not post a lot, but, like Lin Manuel, he answers fans tweets which makes him seem to have a relateable personality. He is a little more active than the other celebrities and because of his answers, I believe his account to be authentic. He uses the pathos appeal through the way he replies to others.
10. Neil Patrick Harris @ActuallyNPH
Neil Patrick Harris has mostly been promoting his politics and his new show, A Series of Unfortunate Events. I think he uses his account to brand himself as a thoughtful person. I think his account is authentic because of the way he shares about his brand and it seems to be an averagely used account. So he uses appeals ethos through his actions as a celebrity and role in his shows, and he uses pathos because of how he uses Twitter.
