The purpose of the Election of 1800 from the musical Hamilton tells a story about how Thomas Jefferson was able to win the 1800 election despite Aaron Burr seeming to be the more popular candidate. The audience for this particular song in the musical is probably intended for people who are interested in musicals, people who are into the hip hop music but with a musical twist, and those who are interested in learning history in a more unconventional manner. I think the songs appeals to pathos and logos. The lyrics do provide many facts and information on how the election went down. John Adams was not a popular president so everyone expects him to lose. Aaron Burr is popular in the north because he seems like a people's man, and while Jefferson is worthy of the position for president, the people think he does not understand the common citizen like Burr does. Then the song appeals to pathos because it makes you develop feelings about the characters in the song. When the chorus is singing about how Burr is, I feel like I would vote for him too.
